The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ Profile
The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ Profile is an online assessment which includes two types of questions.  One set of questions are designed to determine Everything DiSC® style, and a second set of questions are designed to evaluate how frequently the team engages in The Five Behaviors. The responses are integrated into a single, personalized report for each participant that reflects both their individual Everything DiSC® style and the team’s composite evaluation of its performance on The Five Behaviors. Each person receives a personalized, individual report.

The assessment technology is based on adaptive testing.  Adaptive testing is an interactive assessment process that tailors questions based on the individual’s response to prior answered questions. Researched and developed for decades in the context of achievement testing and intelligence quotient (IQ) scoring, this profile assessment implementation of the adaptive testing measurement better aligns with standards established by the psychological assessment community an more accurately describes the individuals profile.

The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ Profile can be used as a stand-alone assessment and does not require the The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ Facilitation Kit.  If used with the Facilitation Kit, an Annotated Team Report is included for the facilitator. This is a valuable facilitation tool that can be used in preparation as well as during the session. The Annotated Team Report is a copy of the team profile with the following notations:

  • Expanded explanations of profile content
  • Scoring interpretation
  • Resources for additional information
  • An appendix that includes a ranking of all assessment items by team average, the team’s percentile for each of the five behaviors, and benchmark comparison data for all teams who have taken the assessment.

Five Behaviors
Sample Profile
This program is designed for intact teams, ideally less than 16 members, although larger teams can be accommodated. The team should have common goals and are mutually responsible for achieving them. Each member of the team will be provided a password that enables the member to gain access to an online assessment form that will be completed by the member relating to the team and an Everything DiSC® profile. Once everyone on the team has completed their assessment, all of the individuals and the facilitator's reports are generated. Each member then receives their personalized report with the team data, the implications of their Everything DiSC® style on each of The Five Behaviors and how best to approach the other styles.

Individual reports fro each team member are purchased at the individual pricing and an Annotated Team Report if provided for free. The Annotated Team Report guides a Facilitator through the team results. It includes norms of over 5,000 teams and an appendix of the questions in rank order and percentiles of the team’s scores..

A pdf of a poster of the team’s Everything DiSC® styles is also free as part of the Team Report. There are also blank posters in the Facilitator Kit of the same Everything DiSC® style map, The Five Behaviors Model and the Conflict Team Map.

Requires a minimum of three (3) individual completed team member assessments in order for a The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ report to be produced.

What Does The Program Do?

The program helps teams understand how, as a team, they score on the key components of The Five Behaviors model: trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, and results. Each individual on the team will also understand their own personality style, their team members’ styles and how their styles contribute to the team’s overall success. This assessment also incorporates the reliable, well-known Everything DiSC®, model of behavior:

  • D: Dominance,
  • i: Influence,
  • S: Steadiness,
  • C: Conscientiousness
Customer-Centric Product Development

We like to think that our product development process is the secret to our success. We research, we storyboard, we build a full working prototype, we get extensive workshop feedback (from actual participants going through a program), and then… we start over again. And for each product, we do this until we get it right. It’s hard, but we do this because it’s the only way to ensure that the learner experience is as powerful as it can be. We are radically customer-focused every step of the way.

The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team grew out of a decade-long relationship with Patrick Lencioni and his colleagues at The Table Group. During our development process, we extensively tested and refined the program with more than 300 teams and 3,500 team members.
Assessment Validation

At the end of the day, the participant has to agree with his or her results. And while most assessments in our industry are just tested for internal reliability, we take it a few steps further. We look at things like test-retest (the stability of the tool), the correlations with other respected instruments, the correlations with outside observer ratings, and the correlations with actual work behavior. It’s a big investment, but we do it because this information is what allows us to refine the assessment and make sure we are getting the participant the most accurate results possible. Getting the assessment right is our very first job.
Who is the program designed for?

The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ assessment and accompanying material is designed for an intact team. Before choosing this program, consider the questions: Is the team really a TEAM? A team is a relatively small number of people (from three to twelve) who meet on a regular basis and are collectively responsible for results. The team members share common goals as well as the rewards and responsibilities for achieving them. Not every group is a team. For example, a group that appears to be a team might simply be a collection of people who report to the same manager, but who have relatively little interdependence and mutual accountability. If a group does not meet the criteria of a true team, this process is unlikely to produce the results they expect.
